Our Pain Management Specialists
In dealing with acute and chronic pain of the musculoskeletal system, there often exists a gap between conservative care and surgical procedures, wherein lies the most effective treatment. The pain management physicians at D.I.S.C. fill this space, offering a full range of services focused on restoring motion and function. Often, the correct pain management treatment allows patients to avoid surgery altogether. Additionally, for those patients for whom surgery is the best option, the pain management specialists help to ensure a rapid and comfortable recovery.
Interventional treatments, including blocs and targeted injections are performed in our state-of-the-art surgical center. Under the guidance of fluoroscopic scopes and digital imaging systems, our physicians are able to pinpoint exact centers of pain and relieve patients with amazing accuracy and efficiency. After the procedure is complete, patients are immediately scanned in our in house CT and MRI center. By bringing together these physicians and facilities under one roof, the D.I.S.C. pain management team provides a comprehensive care model with unmatched effectiveness and convenience.
From diagnosis to preventative, conservative and interventional care our team has the knowledge, experience and facilities to locate and understand the true source of pain, and to carry out the most effective and least invasive method of treatment.

Understanding CRPS/RSD
An often misdiagnosed and misunderstood condition, CRPS (Complex Regional Pain Syndrome) presents an extremely challenging situation to both patients and physicians. Formerly identified as RSD, this debilitating disease is marked by the presence of continuous, intense pain out of proportion to the severity of injury (if any has occurred). The pain is usually centered in one or more of the extremities (arms, legs, hands or feet) and generally increases over time.
For suffers of CRPS, there is hope, however. Under the direction of Dr. Edward Carden, a highly specialized subset of the D.I.S.C. pain management team offers a comprehensive approach to the diagnosis and treatment of this difficult disease. In addition, the team takes a highly proactive approach to educating the public and medical community about the condition, and the means of recognizing and relieving the syndrome.
