Dr. John T. Knight, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, has joined the physician team at the Marina del Rey-based DISC Sports & Spine Center as a specialist concentrating on innovative treatments for hand and wrist injuries it was announced today by CEO and Founder Dr. Robert S. Bray, Jr.
MARINA DEL REY, CALIF -- Dr. John T. Knight, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, has joined the physician team at the Marina del Rey-based DISC Sports & Spine Center as a specialist concentrating on innovative treatments for hand and wrist injuries it was announced today by CEO and Founder Dr. Robert S. Bray, Jr.
“We are very excited that Dr. Knight has agreed to join DISC as he is a highly-qualified hand and wrist surgeon with an expertise that will greatly add to our orthopedic services,” Bray said. “Our goal is to provide a full spectrum of care for spine and sports and having a surgeon of his caliber is a significant step that will greatly benefit our patients.”
A graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana with a degree in biology, Dr. Knight obtained his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine in Shreveport, where he received the Louisiana Orthopaedic Association Outstanding Student Award, June 1987. Following his orthopedic training at LSU Medical Center, he completed a hand and upper extemities surgery Fellowship at the Joseph H. Boyes program in Los Angeles and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in surgery of the hand.

Dr. Knight gained national notoriety in the late 1990s with his persistence and dedication that helped Congress passed the Aviation Medical Assistance Act on April 24, 1998. As part of his achievements, he was one of the first doctors in the Southern U.S. to perform a successful toe-to-thumb transplantation. He also was one of the first in the U.S. to implant the Free Hand System, an internal computerized system resorting function to the quadriplegic patients’ hand.
