Dr. Andrew Bulczynski Shares Ski Injury Prevention Tips with the Newport Beach Independent

By Gina Dostler | Newport Beach Independent | View Full Article

Orthopedic surgeon Dr. Andrew Bulczynski recently shared ski injury prevention tips with the Newport Beach Independent.  With the Olympics in full swing, winter sports, especially skiing and snowboarding, are at the center of worldwide attention.

Dr. Bulczynski provides tips that can decrease the chances of injury on the slopes, beginning with doing a check up on your equipment.  After storing your equipment for most of the year, you need to make sure your gear still fits correctly and is working properly before hitting the snow.

In addition, being physically fit throughout the year means your muscles are toned and will therefore act like a shock absorber while skiing.  A proper diet will give your body the fuel needed to ski.  Dr. Bulczynski also emphasized warming up prior to skiing, which will get your body prepped for the slopes.  In addition, sunscreen, water consumption and stretching will prevent injury while on the slopes.
