Actress Valerie Harper is featured in a segment on KABC7, talking about her knee pain and the ongoing treatment she's been receiving at DISC. Even though she is currently battling brain cancer, Harper accepted an invitation to dance on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” The stress of dancing for long hours began causing her knee pain and an MRI done showed that Harper has a meniscus tear and osteoarthritis.
Her doctor, Dr. Joseph Horrigan, says that he’s been doing soft tissue mobilization for Harper, which lengthens tight muscles and breaks up scarred tissue, reducing inflammation.
"Keeping a joint mobile is very important and there are many ways to keep a joint mobile," he said.
