Video: Dr. Michael Gervais Talks Figure Skating and Psychology on NBC4

High performance psychologist Dr. Michael Gervais was recently on NBC4 talking about Olympic athletes and the pressure they face at the Games.  Dr. Gervais discusses the pressure figure skaters face and how crucial it is for them to control their minds during competition.

"When we have too much pressure in our minds, what ends up taking place is people start to think in ways that are not normal," Dr. Gervais said.

Figure skaters Gracie Gold and Ashley Wagner share how they feel about the Olympics and 2010 Olympic gold medalist Evan Lysacek provides insight for what it takes to earn a spot on the podium.

"One of the greatest pressures for figure skaters is that so much is out of their control," he added.
