Dr. David W. Fabi is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction and joint replacement, with a focus on hip and knee procedures. Internationally recognized for his expertise, Dr. Fabi is known for delivering compassionate, patient-centered care that emphasizes open communication and personalized treatment plans.
He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in 2004, followed by a residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He then completed a prestigious fellowship in Total Joint Reconstruction at Rush University Medical Center, one of the world’s foremost institutions for joint replacement surgery.
A pioneer in robotic-assisted joint replacement, Dr. Fabi was among the earliest adopters of this technology and is widely regarded as a leader in the field. His advanced surgical techniques focus on minimally invasive procedures that aim to improve patient recovery times and outcomes. Over his career, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on joint replacement and regularly speaks at national conferences to share his knowledge with other physicians.
Dr. Fabi is currently in practice at San Diego Orthopaedic Associates Medical Group and is affiliated with Scripps Mercy Hospital and Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla. In recognition of his leadership and innovation, he was named one of the top 40 emerging orthopedic surgeon leaders in the U.S. by the Leaders in Total Joint Replacement: Generation Next award.
