Gaetano Scuderi, MD is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon with more than two decades of experience treating patients with joint, spine, and musculoskeletal pain. He specializes in the diagnosis and management of complex spine and extremity conditions, with a clinical focus on improving outcomes for post-traumatic and degenerative musculoskeletal disorders.

Dr. Scuderi earned his MD from the State University of New York at Buffalo, completed his internship and residency training in orthopedic surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami, and went on to complete a spine surgery fellowship at the University of California, San Diego. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Scuderi has an extensive academic and research background. He has published more than 45 peer-reviewed scientific articles and has lectured nationally and internationally on spine surgery, orthopedic innovation, and pain mechanisms. His research has focused on biomarkers for the objective diagnosis of pain and improving treatment strategies for musculoskeletal injury.

He recently completed a four-year appointment as a Clinical Professor at Stanford University, contributing to clinical education and research in orthopedic and spine surgery. His work has also extended into translational medicine, including studies exploring a novel pain-associated protein identified in musculoskeletal injury and related diagnostic applications. He has been involved in efforts that led to the development and commercialization of biomarker-based testing aimed at improving treatment of painful joint and spine conditions.

Dr. Scuderi is also the founder and Chief Medical Officer of Cytonics Corporation, where he has contributed to the development of biologic and diagnostic technologies targeting musculoskeletal disease. His work in this area includes patented approaches and ongoing development of biologically derived therapeutic strategies intended to support tissue protection and recovery following injury.

Across his career, Dr. Scuderi has combined clinical expertise, academic leadership, and biomedical research to advance the understanding and treatment of orthopedic and spine-related conditions.
