Dr. Jahangir “John” Asghar is a fellowship-trained spine surgeon specializing in the treatment of scoliosis and complex spinal deformities. Recognized as a leading authority in the field, he combines extensive clinical expertise with a passion for research, education, and innovation to advance the standard of spinal care.
Throughout his career, Dr. Asghar has been at the forefront of developing and implementing advanced surgical technologies. His pioneering work in minimally invasive and ultrasonic-assisted techniques has transformed the treatment of complex spinal deformities and revision scoliosis procedures, helping patients achieve improved outcomes with less disruption to healthy tissue. With more than 18 years of experience in spine surgery and research, Dr. Asghar has performed thousands of complex scoliosis and spinal deformity procedures. Beyond his clinical work, he is deeply committed to humanitarian outreach, participating in medical missions across Asia, South America, and the Middle East to expand access to specialized spinal care and education.
Dr. Asghar previously served for eight years at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and completed advanced fellowship training in Pediatric Spine Surgery at Shriners Hospital for Children in Philadelphia. He has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed scientific publications and is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences focused on scoliosis and complex spinal deformities.
He is an active member of the Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), the North American Spine Society (NASS), and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery (ISASS), and is a Founding Member of the Society for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery.
Dr. Asghar lives in South Florida with his wife and two children.
