Dr. Abitbol earned his medical degree from the University of Ottawa in Canada and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at McGill University in Montreal. He went on to complete a prestigious spine surgery fellowship at Mt. Sinai and Toronto General Hospital—University of Toronto—under world-renowned spine surgeon Dr. John Kostuik.
He is the immediate past president of the North American Spine Society and serves on the Board of Directors for both the Cervical Spine Research Society and the Federation of Spine Associations. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Abitbol has testified before Congress as a patient advocate on key healthcare issues, reflecting his commitment to improving the healthcare system.
