Dual Fellowship-Trained Spine Surgeon Specializing in Minimally Invasive Solutions
Dr. Jose Humberto Jiménez-Almonte is a dual fellowship-trained orthopedic spine surgeon specializing in minimally invasive, motion-preserving, and robotic-assisted spine surgery. As one of the few spine surgeons in the United States to complete two advanced spine fellowships, he brings exceptional expertise to the diagnosis and treatment of complex spinal conditions. His mission is to help patients reduce pain, restore function, and return to active, healthy lives through personalized, evidence-based care.
Originally from Bayamón, Puerto Rico, Dr. Jiménez-Almonte graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine while simultaneously completing a combined MD and Master's degree program through the prestigious Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. He went on to complete his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Kentucky, where he consistently ranked among the highest-performing residents nationwide on the Orthopaedic In-Training Examination.
Following residency, Dr. Jiménez-Almonte pursued advanced subspecialty training through two highly competitive spine fellowships. His first fellowship at the University of Colorado focused on complex spinal disorders, including adult and pediatric spinal deformities. He then completed a second fellowship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, where he trained alongside pioneers in minimally invasive, robotic-assisted, outpatient, and motion-preserving spine surgery.
Dr. Jiménez-Almonte specializes in the treatment of herniated discs, spinal stenosis, scoliosis, spondylolisthesis, spinal trauma, and other complex cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine disorders. He utilizes the latest technologies and techniques, including robotic-assisted surgery, artificial disc replacement, and minimally invasive procedures designed to reduce tissue disruption, shorten recovery times, and improve patient outcomes. Whenever possible, he emphasizes conservative and non-surgical treatment options before recommending surgery.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Jiménez-Almonte is an accomplished surgeon-scientist who has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and book chapters on spine surgery and musculoskeletal disorders. His research has been presented at national and international conferences, reflecting his commitment to advancing the field and improving patient care.
