Dr. Deven Khosla: Expert Neurosurgeon Dedicated to Advanced Spine Care and Patient-Centered Treatment

Dr. Deven Khosla is a highly skilled board-certified neurosurgeon with over two decades of experience delivering advanced care in spinal and neurological surgery. He is renowned for his patient-centered approach, emphasizing open communication, shared decision-making, and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for his patients. Dr. Khosla prioritizes minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, allowing for reduced recovery times, lower complication rates, and improved overall patient satisfaction. His expertise encompasses a wide range of procedures, including artificial disc replacement (cervical and lumbar), anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), lumbar microsurgery, deformity correction, spinal tumor removal, and scoliosis correction. Dr. Khosla’s dedication to providing individualized care ensures that each patient receives a treatment plan tailored to their unique condition and goals, reflecting his deep understanding of the impact spinal and neurological conditions can have on quality of life. He earned his Doctor of Medicine from Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine in 1995 and completed his neurosurgery residency at Loyola University Medical Center in 2001.

Dr. Khosla began his career at Sierra Neurosurgery Group in Reno, Nevada, where he practiced from 2001 to 2016, serving as president and becoming a full partner in 2002. He also held the position of Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Nevada School of Medicine during this period. 

From 2016 to 2019, Dr. Khosla was part of the Southern California Permanente Medical Group's Department of Neurological Surgery in Los Angeles, where he also served as a clinical instructor for UCLA neurosurgery residents. 

In 2019, he founded Achieve Brain and Spine in Santa Monica, California, where he currently serves as President. His specialties include minimally invasive spinal surgery, deformity correction, and complex spinal surgery. As of November 1, 2023, Dr. Khosla holds the position of Chief of Spine Surgery at Providence St. John's Hospital/Providence Medical Center in Santa Monica. 

Dr. Khosla maintains active medical licenses in California and Nevada and holds a California fluoroscopic license. He is affiliated with several hospitals, including Providence St. John's Hospital, Southern California Hospitals in Culver City, California Hospital (Dignity Health) in Downtown Los Angeles, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and UCLA Santa Monica Medical Center. 

His professional memberships include the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgery, California Association of Neurological Surgery, Washoe County Medical Society, Reno Surgical Society, and the American Medical Association. 

Dr. Khosla is actively involved in community service, serving on the Board of Directors for the Rotary Club of Santa Monica (2021-2022) and as Chapter President of ThinkFirst Head Injury Prevention since 2019. 

His contributions to the field include presentations at the American Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Nevada Academy of Family Practitioners, as well as research on the use of PEEK rods in lumbar fusion. 

Dr. Khosla's dedication to patient care and surgical excellence has been recognized with awards such as the 2017 Annual Physician Merit Award from Kaiser Permanente Los Angeles/SCPMG. 

Outside of his professional life, Dr. Khosla enjoys spending time with family and friends, biking, tennis, beach activities, skiing, art, music, and theater.
