About Dr. Babaria
Dr. Vivek Babaria is board certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R) and fellowship-trained in interventional spine care, sports and regenerative medicine. At the core of his personalized, multidisciplinary approach is a passion to help patients restore function, improve quality of life and maximize performance.
Dr. Babaria prides himself on achieving proper diagnoses for his patients’ musculoskeletal, spine and orthopedic issues. Drawing on his specialized training, he uses ultrasound to evaluate muscles, nerves, tendons and joints, which gives patients real-time data about their injuries. He then gives each patient a tailored plan to fit their goals, with both traditional and cutting-edge treatment options that include minimally invasive interventional procedures, neuromodulation, radiofrequency ablation and orthobiologic therapies such as PRP, prolotherapy and hyaluronic acid.
Dr. Babaria has extensive experience treating professional athletes while in-season or training. Communicating directly with training staff on rehabilitation protocols, recommendations and return-to-play expectations, he has been instrumental in helping Olympic runners recover to reach their personal records and college football players prepare for the NFL Combine. He has helped PGA golfers with elbow/wrist pain, international soccer players with ankle injuries, professional and collegiate baseball/softball players with rotator cuff and elbow injuries, and basketball players with knee, foot and ankle injuries.
Dr. Babaria is a nationally recognized leader in his field. He continues to author numerous publications and helps establish industrywide guidelines for safety and ethics in interventional spine care. He has been selected onto the Patient Safety and Education Committee within the North American Spine Society (NASS), the Patient Safety Committee within the Spine Intervention Society (SIS), and the Policy and Advocacy Committee within the Pacific Spine and Pain Society (PSPS).
Dr. Babaria is the first osteopathic physician to join DISC. He earned his medical degree from A.T. Still University School of Osteopathic Medicine and completed residency at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center, where he served as chief resident. He then completed a fellowship in interventional spine & sports medicine at OSS Health. Dr. Babaria trained under Dr. Michael Bruce Furman, who authored “Atlas of Image-Guided Spinal Procedures,” one of the most recognized textbooks in interventional spine care.
When he’s not treating patients or authoring safety guidelines, Dr. Babaria is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys spending time with his family, making the perfect pass in pick-up basketball, bodysurfing at the beach, customizing his vegetarian food order and growing through his spiritual process.
