Robert Norton, MD

Dr. Robert P. Norton is a board-certified orthopedic spine surgeon recognized for his expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex spinal disorders. Combining advanced surgical techniques with a patient-first approach, he is dedicated to helping individuals restore function, reduce pain, and improve their quality of life through personalized spine care.

Dr. Norton specializes in the full spectrum of spinal conditions, including degenerative spine disease, spinal deformities, fractures, spinal trauma, and cervical and lumbar disorders. His expertise includes minimally invasive spine surgery, kyphoplasty, spinal reconstruction, and the use of advanced spinal implants and bone graft technologies. While highly skilled in surgical treatment, Dr. Norton is known for his conservative approach to care, emphasizing non-surgical therapies whenever appropriate and recommending surgery only when it offers the best path to recovery.

A respected leader in the orthopedic and spine communities, Dr. Norton serves as Chief Medical Officer for PSN Affiliates at Legent Hospital System and holds leadership positions within several professional organizations. He serves on the Boards of Directors for Ortho Florida, the Florida Orthopaedic Society, and the Florida Orthopaedic Risk Purchasing Group. He also chairs the Florida Orthopaedic Society’s Disaster Relief Committee and contributes to healthcare advocacy through his work on health policy initiatives.

Dr. Norton completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he served as Administrative Chief Resident, followed by advanced fellowship training in spine surgery at NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. He earned his medical degree magna cum laude from Jefferson Medical College and received his Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, also magna cum laude, from Rutgers University.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Norton is actively involved in research, medical education, and surgical innovation. He lectures nationally and internationally on spine surgery, trains surgeons through advanced educational courses, and has contributed to the development of spinal implants, including a patented pedicle screw-mounted retractor. His achievements have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Kostuik Innovation Award from the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery and recognition as one of Boca Magazine’s Best of Boca physicians.
