A Little Stretching Can Go A Long Way

Many people underestimate just how beneficial a few key stretches can be to their bodies.  If you have a part of your body that is giving you trouble, the right stretch can loosen up those muscles so as to alleviate pain without further intervention.  After all, wouldn’t you prefer to stretch for a couple minutes per day rather than put up with the pain and eventually have to come in for medical intervention?

If the pain you feel radiates through your shoulders and neck, perhaps as a result of inactivity at the office, then you might want to consider the stretches noted in a new Huffington Post article.  By putting these actions to work for you, you might open up your body and avoid further harm.

The stretches themselves are pretty straight-forward.  One involves simply standing straight with your legs slightly more than shoulder-width apart from one another.  Take one toe, turn it to the side, and then lean in that direction with your arms sticking out straight from the sides of your body.  If you have the correct form, one arm will be able to grab your shin or knee while the other will point straight up.  You should feel the stretch from your torso up to your neck.
