How You Perceive Exercise Plays An Important Health Role

A new study has found that if you’re not inclined to think of exercise as a workout, you might be inclined to get more out of exercise.  The research hails from Cornell University and can be found in a journal called Marketing Letters.  Two experiments were conducted to reach these results, and they basically boiled down to having some people take part in what was labelled an exercise while the rest of the group took part in what was labelled a scenic walk.  These were actually identical forms of exercise.  However, when providing people with lunch afterwards, the group told they were exercising (even though it was the same as the scenic walk) consumed more calories, the thought being that they were rewarding themselves for a job well done.
