A new article out of Boston highlights the importance of stretching and offers some insights into the kinds of stretches that will be the most beneficial to those persons who are walking or running. The report places an emphasis on the post-workout stretch because of the idea that the body is warmed up and thus the muscles are more inclined to stretch properly. Among the stretches on offer, individuals are asked to work their calves by pushing up against a wall with their hands while simultaneously pushing with the leg positioned forward while the other is stretched back. If you do things right, your calves should feel the stretch. Switch your feet and do the same thing on the other side.
