Protect Your Knees To Protect The Rest Of Your Body Longterm

If you’re an avid runner, then there’s one part of your body that requires a larger level of attention than just about any other:  your knees.  The constant jostling against the pavement is going to catch up to you sooner or later, and getting issues corrected early is imperative so that you don’t have to deal with any number of maladies.  A new article from US News & World Report talks about why it’s so important to see to the health of your knees.

Perhaps not surprisingly, the better you are at seeing to knee health at an early age, the easier time you’ll have doing the same when you get older. Pain accumulates over time, but that accumulation of pain and strain can be jettisoned if you work with a doctor.  If not, it just keeps adding up so that, when you get older, it’s harder than ever to ditch that pain.  There’s also the added benefit of saving money if you look to prevention early on rather than wait until you’re older and the pain has grown to the point where you require an arthroscopic knee surgery.

Also understand the role that your knees play in the overall health of other portions of your frame.  When your knees aren’t at 100%, it could have a negative effect on your hips as well as your back, with those portions of your body compensating for the weakness experienced in your legs.
