Soccer Pros Line Up To Support Header Ban Among Youth Athletes

Members of the 1999 Women’s United States soccer team, the same team that won the World Cup back in 1999, are back in the spotlight with an initiative designed to curb the usage of headers among student athletes.  Parents and Pros for Safer Soccer has been launched with the intent of reducing this aspect of the game in competitors who are below the age of 14.  The idea behind this is that cutting out headers could protect kids by limiting their risk of sustaining a concussion.  It’s not just a danger that’s apparent when an individual accidentally strikes another player; repeatedly hitting the ball may actually be detrimental to health as well.
