Study Shows Serious Farm Injuries May Be Underreported

Numerous injuries that get treated at a sports medicine or spinal center are the result of some kind of strain that takes place on the job.  If you work on a farm, then the potential for injury tends to be higher than it is in many other workplaces.  But what may come as a shock is just how dangerous farm work can be, if one new study is to be believed.

NPR recently reported on the research, which examined how not all injuries are getting reported the way that they should.  That lack of reporting could serve to disguise conditions on many farms.  The study, featured in the Annals of Epidemiology, noted that more than three quarters of injuries don’t get reported properly.  These injuries can run the gamut from a thrown-out back to a serious fall.
